28837 Herefordshire, Christopher Saxton / William Hole, 1637

FRUGIFERI AC AMENI HEREFORDIAE.... An early engraved map of the county engraved by William Hole after the survey by Christopher Saxton embellished with decorative title cartouche and the royal arms. Scale with compass rose and pair of dividers. 12 1/4 x 11 1/4 inches.Uncoloured. A light water stain in the top left and right hand corners. Early manuscript on verso reading Hereford Shire plus perhaps a name Budon or Bundon. This writing in brown ink shows through a little on the front side of the map.
