A magnificent large detailed 18th century engraved map of the county. The decorative uncoloured title cartouche shows men and women harvesting. A second uncoloured rococo cartouche displays the dedication to William Cowper, Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire. The publisher’s imprint beneath reads Printed for Robt. Sayer in Fleet Street, John Bowles in Cornhill, & Carington Bowles in St. Pauls Church Yard. 25 1/2 x 20 3/4 inches. Original outline hand colouring. Small single worm hole in left hand blank margin and matchin one on the right. Two small brown marks at the top of the centre fold but otherwise the map is in nice clean crisp condition with no tears or repairs.
