A small engraved county map with list of hundreds and title panel. Beneath is a description of the county whilst the map is surmounted by a baroque cartouche titled The Road From London to Wells.... Road map on verso from Newmarket in Suffolk to Swaffham in Norfolk embellished with a coat of arms and engraved notes. 4 x 7 1/4 inches. Hand coloured on both sides.

ALSO THE RECTORIES & VICARAGES; THE PARKS AND SEATS OF NOBILITY AND GENTRY; WITH OTHER USEFUL PARTICULARS BY THOMAS KITCHIN GEOGRAPHER. A magnificent large detailed 18th century engraved map of the county. The decorative uncoloured title cartouche shows men and women harvesting. A second uncoloured rococo cartouche displays the dedication to William Cowper, Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire. The publisher’s imprint beneath reads Printed for Robt. Sayer in Fleet Street, John Bowles in Cornhill, & Carington Bowles in St. Pauls Church Yard. 25 1/2 x 20 3/4 inches. Original outline hand colouring. Small single worm hole in left hand blank margin and matchin one on the right. Two small brown marks at the top of the centre fold but otherwise the map is in nice clean crisp condition with no tears or repairs.
